Filmed in British Columbia and Ontario, Canada, See was created for Apple TV+, the new platform of the now congested world of streaming services.
To get an idea of the magnitude of the project, which is returning for the third season, the Wall Street Journal reported that the company spent nearly $15 million per episode. This is the cost of a big-budget movie, or as much as every episode of the final season of Game of Thrones.
Starring Jason Momoa, Sylvia Hoeks, and Nesta Cooper, the series is one of Apple's top original content shows.
Written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight and directed by Francis Lawrence (The Hunger Games, Red Sparrow), the action takes place 600 years in the future.
After a deadly virus outbreak killed most of the population, those who survived emerged blind. All mankind has adapted to new forms of subsistence, but everything is challenged when a set of twins with sight is born.
An important section of the stunning outdoors featured in See was filmed on Vancouver Island. For the second and the third seasons the production moved to Ontario.

See Filming Locations
A large part of the first season was based in the town of Campbell River, near Strathcona Provincial Park and the Comox area.
The region features superb hiking trails, lakes, waterfalls, pristine forests, and glaciers.

The Kanzua Dam, Palace of Queen Kane in Payan City, is inspired by the old Jordan River Dam.
Built in 1911, this diversion dam is located in the south of the island, near the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

The local website My Powell River Now reported that Ralph River Campground on the shore of Buttle Lake was booked and closed to the public due to filming.
Cast and crew spent months here shooting the tribe settlement.

Myra Falls, located near a working mine at Strathcona Provincial Park, features several terraces and dazzling turquoise pools.

The scene pictured with the Jerlamarel twins reading George Orwell was filmed at the Lower Myra Falls, also located at Strathcona-Westmin Provincial Park.

The opening scene of episode 3 was shot in the Othello Tunnels in Coquihalla Canyon Provincial Park.

Second Season Locations
Deadline reported that the series started filming the second season in October 2020 at Cinespace Film Studios in Ontario.
Maghra and her sister, Queen Kane, arrive with their army in the city of Pennsa.
Blogto reported that the producers built a large set hidden in the forest west of Brampton, near the middle of Claireville Conservation Area.

However, the exterior scenes at Lord Harlan's Palace in Pennsa were filmed at the now closed St Thomas Psychiatric Hospital tweaked with some CGI.
This building, part of the Southwest Centre for Forensic Mental Health Care complex, was also featured in Guillermo del Toro's Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and in The Boys series.
Location manager John Rakich told KFTV that due to the costs of mantaining so many performers and extras about 2.5 hours outside of Toronto, they decided to relocate the set to an area called Clairville closer to the city.

The city of Trivantes, built over the remains of old warehouses, crumbling factories, and steel mills is set in what once was Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh is also the location where Jason Momoa's 2021 movie, Sweet Girl, takes place.
The traveling scenes with Paris and Kofun were filmed in Rockwood Conservation Area, a preserve with limestone cliffs and caves located near Guelph in Ontario.

The colorful tent village was built at Tommy Thompson Park, the urban natural park on a narrow peninsula of Lake Ontario, near downtown Toronto.

The old airport from episode six, "The Truth About Unicorns", was a set built at the Sheridan Centre Mall in Mississauga.

The bridge from season two finale is the Wiley Bridge in Brampton, also featured in The Boys and The Handmaid's Tale series.
The battle was filmed on a set at the old Ontario Place theme park.

Jason Aquaman Momoa stars in the series as the leader of the Alkenny tribe Baba Voss. Sylvia Hoeks (Blade Runner 2049) plays the cunning and dangerous Queen Kane.
Completing the main cast are Alfre Woodard (Juanita, Annabelle) as Paris, Hera Hilmar (Mortal Engines) as Maghra, Yadira Guevara-Prip (Supernatural) as Bow Lion, and Christian Camargo (House of Cards) as Tamacti Jun.
